How to create a SYSTEM SHUTDOWN TIMER or FAKE VIRUS?

TRICK:
If you want to shutdown your computer after certain time(After downloading a film) you can make use of this.It seems to be a FAKE VIRUS.

Step 1. Goto desktop (ctrl+D).
Step 2. Right click new->Shortcut.You will receive a shortcut wizard.
Step 3. In that type as <Shutdown -s -t 30 -c "Hi I am virus"> without < and >.
Step 4. You will see a new icon the desktop.Make the icon real.
Right click->properties->shortcut->change icon->Finish.
Step 5. You will get a warning window that your computer going to shut down in a few seconds.
in the code <Shutdown -s -t 30 -c "Hi Am virus"> 30 refers the no of seconds.i.e after 30 seconds of clicking the icon the computer will shut down.

RETRIEVE:
*Only way to stop this process is Start->run->cmd->type as "shutdown -a".
Note:This will not affect any of your files,software or hardware components.This acts as a SHUTDOWN TIMER.
Its is important to mention the time in SECONDS.

Gmail's vacation responder

                   Going on vacation? No access to the Internet? No problem! Use G mail's vacation responder to let people know you won't be able to get back to them right away.

You can set up a vacation response in your Gmail settings that will automatically reply to anyone who emails you. While the vacation responder is enabled, Gmail will send a response to anyone who contacts you.* If that person contacts you again after four days and your vacation responder is still enabled, Gmail will send another vacation response to remind the person that you're away from your email.
Here's how to let people know you can't respond right away:

1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click the gear icon  in the upper-right and select Gmail settings along the top of any Gmail page.
3. From the General tab, select Vacation responder on in the Vacation responder: section.
4. Enter the subject and body of your message in the Subject: and Message: fields.
   • If you've enabled a personalized signature in your settings, Gmail will automatically append it to the bottom of your vacation response.
5. Check the box next to Only send a response to people in my Contacts if you don't want everyone who emails you to know that you're away from your mail.
6. Click Save Changes.

While the vacation responder is enabled, you'll see a banner across the top of any Gmail page, displaying the subject of your vacation response. To stop Gmail from automatically sending the response, click end now within the banner. Or, if you'd like to edit the response, click vacation settings.

• Keep in mind that your vacation response will start over each time you edit it -- if someone receives your initial vacation response, and then emails you again after you've edited the subject or body of the message, he or she will receive the edited response, too.

* Messages classified as spam and messages addressed to a mailing list you subscribe to will not receive a vacation response.

Another Great Experimental Feature Of Gmail

UNDO SEND :
                Google has given a new experimental feature to Gmail yesterday, allowing users to stop the messages from being sent by mistake.
This features announced in official Gmail Blog yesterday – New in Labs: Undo Send.
To turn on this option, you need to go to Settings -> Labs -> Undo Send, and select ‘enable’. Once this feature is activated, you will see a new ‘Undo’ link appear on every sent mail confirmation. Clicked this link will take you back to the composing window allowing you to cancel the delivery or modify the message.

Unfortunately, ‘Undo Send’ doesn’t really pull back a message that has already sent. This feature only holds your message for 5 seconds so you have a chance for second thoughts.

Hide your Hard Drives for security & Privacy

TRICK :
This is a great trick you can play on your friends. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer.

Step 1 : Go to start->run.Type regedit.Now go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Step 2 :Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives (it is case sensitive).
Step 3 :Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF   (Hexadecimal) .
Step 4 :Now restart your computer. So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...).


RETRIEVE :
To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.Again restart your computer.You can now see all the drives again.

How to clear THUMBS from your folders?

What is thumbs?
Thumb.db is a cache of the current picture in any directory that contains Picture files for example:jpeg.

Step 1 : Goto Control panel.

Step 2 : open "FOLDER OPTIONS".

Step 3 : go to "VIEW".

Step 4 : see 1st section "FILES & FOLDERS".

Step 5 : Click on the "DO NOT CACHE THUMBNAILS".

Now the thumbnail file will be removed from your computer once u do this the file will be never created.

How to protect your PC or LAPTOP from hacking :

HACKING : 
Step 1  : Reboot your machine.

Step 2 : Press F8 before the Windows boot screen appears. Do not press F5 as used on the NT/9x ser of Windows. You will be be prompted with a boot options menu.

Step 3 : Select the Start Windows in Safe Mode option.

Step 4 : Click through several self-explanatory screens until your reach the familiar 'Welcome' screen.*Note that this welcome screen is limited to 256 colors and 640x480 resolution because the primary graphics will have been set to the Windows Safe Mode software VGA adapter. You will not be able to change this mode even in Display options, while Windows is running in Safe Mode.

Step 5 : Find the icon for the Administrator user.

Step 6 : The Safe Mode Welcome screen might display some of the other users on your system.

Step 7 : Login as the admin.

Step 8 : Press Yes at the prompt asking if you would like to continue using Safe Mode.

Step 9: Continue on to the User Settings control panel. Here you can change any of the other passwords for user on the machine. Make any changes you want.

Step 10 : Reboot your computer. As long as you don't press any keys (e.g. F8) during the boot-up the computer will startup normally.

Step 11 : Login as the user for which you set the password.

PROTECTION :

Follow the above steps and set a password for ADMINSTRATOR. The next time when you run your machine in safe mode it’ll ask the password for ADMINISTRATOR account also.

A new keyboard for GMAIL
